Psalm 24
Daily Devotional from Psalm 25–
Verse 5
“Guide me in your truth and teach me, for you are God my Savior, and my hope is in you all day long” (NIV).
The Psalmist refers to God as a teacher and a savior throughout Psalm 25. These are ideas we are often familiar with applying to God. However, the inverse should also be applied to ourselves. If God is a teacher, then we must be students. If God is a savior, we must need saving.
Considering this, an important question we should remember is whether we have made ourselves teachable and if we are relying on His saving grace. The connection between learning and saving continues. It suggests a journey.
Oftentimes I’ve wondered why God chose to save the world in the way He did. Why not instantaneously? Or I become impatient, wanting change now. Yet the value of being taught seems to be crucial to God that He is willing to take time so that we might gain an understanding that is not afforded by quick fixes. There is a lesson in taking a journey with Christ, and our duty is to remain curious along the way.
