2 Chronicles 21

Daily Devotional from 2 Chronicles 21--

Verses 12-15
“And a letter came to him from Elijah the prophet, saying, “Thus says the Lord, the God of David your father, ‘Because you have …  led Israel into whoredom, and also you have killed your brothers, of your father’s house, who were better than you, behold, the Lord will bring a great plague on your people, your children, your wives, and all your possessions, and you yourself will have a severe sickness with a disease of your bowels …’””

Choices have consequences. God is good, but also just.
Sin must be punished. Whether God caused the calamities that fell on Jehoram or simply removed the hedge of protection around him because of his great sin, Jehoram (and his people) paid the penalty.

As Jehoram’s sin impacted the lives of others, so do ours. As Christians, we do not live life in a vacuum. We are connected to each other as the body of Christ. Our good acts elevate others, our bad ones pull them and us down. Help us, O Lord, to seek and obey you, to be a blessing to
those around us.
