2 Chronicles 2
Daily Devotional from 2 Chronicles 2--
Verse 6
“But who is able to build him a house, since heaven, even highest heaven, cannot contain him? Who am I to build a house for him, except as a place to make offerings before him?”
Solomon’s attitude is beautiful – he recognizes the magnitude and awesomeness of the task he has been given, yet he has a level of humility to see the seeming impossibility of it. Solomon’s rhetorical question here is reminiscent of one of his father David’s songs: “what is man that you are mindful of him, and the son of man that you care for him?” (Psalm 8:4)
Yet God does care for us! He calls us his friends, he entrusts us with great responsibility, and he gives us the power and tools to do any task, through Christ.
O Lord, our Lord, how majestic is your name in all the earth! Psalm 8:9
