1 Chronicles 15
Daily Devotional from 1 Chronicles 15--
Verse 2 & 3
Then David said that no one but the Levites may carry the ark of God, for the Lord had chosen them to carry the ark of the Lord and to minister to him forever. And David assembled all Israel at Jerusalem to bring up the ark of the Lord to its place, which he had prepared for it.
The Ark of God was going to come home, to Jerusalem, where God had chosen to dwell. Of all the cities God could have chosen, this is where He elected to be. David had tried to bring the Ark of God to Jerusalem before, but he didn’t do it right. He didn’t treat the incredibly Holy God the way he had been instructed to and he failed.
This time, David prepared to bring the Ark of God home. Every Sunday we come to church to meet the Lord, to be in His presence. He is still the same as He was when David prepared to bring the Ark (the presence of the Living God) back to Jerusalem. Do we prepare to be in the presence of God? Have we connected with Him on Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday, Friday, or Saturday?
David had learned that not preparing for the Ark of God was costly, and he didn’t want to pay that price again. Let’s not waste a gathering by coming unprepared. Let's continuously seek the Lord with all of our hearts and be prepared to be in His presence when we gather.
