2 Kings 4
Daily Devotional from 2 Kings 4--
Verse 2
Verse 2
Elisha asked her, “What can I do for you? Tell me, what do you have in the house?” She said, “Your servant has nothing in the house except a jar of oil.”
This chapter is full of miraculous happenings. A widow was destitute, and the Lord miraculously provided oil to pay off her husband’s debts. A childless woman became pregnant with a son and then, when he died as a child, was brought back to life. Poisoned stew was changed to be nourishing—and hundreds of men were fed with just a few loaves of barley. In each of these stories, we see the Lord working with the meager provisions provided.
The Lord is asking of you, “What do you have to offer?” Maybe it’s the $5 in your wallet, maybe it’s the breath in your lungs, possibly the house you live in? Your meager offering is not too little for God to use. It may just be the miracle you (or someone else) is praying for; we just have to be willing to give it to the Lord and walk in obedience. We may just see God do the impossible and have a testimony of his glory to proclaim.
