1 Kings 20
Daily Devotional from 1 Kings 20–
Verse 28
And a man of God came near and said to the king of Israel,
“Thus says the Lord, ‘Because the Syrians have said, “The
Lord is a god of the hills but he is not a god of the valleys,”
therefore I will give all this great multitude into your hand,
and you shall know that I am the Lord.’”
Because the Syrians previously lost a battle in the
mountains, they believed the God of Israel was only
powerful in the mountains. So, they regrouped and felt
confident the God of Israel would be weak in the plains, and they would be victorious. They had a limited view of the greatness of the God of Israel! To instruct the Syrians of His greatness, God allowed them to be defeated in the valley as well.
The day is coming when there will no longer be any doubt of our Faithful and True God’s existence or His power as He will be recognized as King of kings and Lord of lords! (Rev. 19:11-16)
Let us look forward to that day!
