Daily Devotional from 1 Chronicles 12--
Verse 1
Now these are the men who came to David at Ziklag, while he could not move about freely because of Saul the son of Kish.
What a laundry list of God’s provision in David’s life! It’s so cool to revisit these stories from the perspective of the chronicler and catch so many different details than before. God knew exactly what and who David needed in order to become king, and he provided every bit of it, even when David was hiding out because of Saul. It goes to show that God doesn’t need us to be in an ideal position in order to receive his provision. Most often, his provision comes when we’re in the trickiest, stickiest spots! That brings me a great deal of comfort, and it reminds me that my best move in times of need is to simply be still, put my trust in God, and let him be God! I encourage you to do the same. Whatever the situation, God knows exactly how to provide for you. Quiet your mind, still your heart, and know that he is on the throne.
