1 Chronicles 21

Daily Devotional from 1 Chronicles 21--

Verse 24b
I will not take for the Lord what is yours, nor offer burnt offerings that cost me nothing.

Another way to say this: “I’m going to worship God, and it needs to cost me something.” Because is it really worship if it costs me nothing? No, that’s what we call lip service. God doesn’t just want our verbal acknowledgement of Him, He wants our hearts. Just as Ornan was willing to freely give the land and all the supplies for the altar and offering as a gift to his king, we should be willing at the drop of a hat to give whatever it is we feel our King is asking us to give.

What might your King want you to give today? Time in service for his kingdom? Finances to further his kingdom? Does he want you to give up something that doesn’t honor him, as a worship to him? Whatever it may be, let him know that you are going to worship Him and you are okay with whatever it costs you. He’s worth it. Relationship with Jesus is worth it!
