2 Chronicles 17

Daily Devotional from 2 Chronicles 17--

Verse 3-4a
“The Lord was with Jehoshaphat, because he walked in the earlier ways of his father David. He did not seek the Baals, but sought the God of his father and walked in his commandments…”

Jehoshaphat did not let his father’s (Asa) reliance on worldly things shape him. Instead he chose to seek God and his ways. He even took down the idols and had the Torah taught throughout the land again. This kept peace in the land.

With Jesus, it doesn’t matter where we came from but who we’ve chosen to place our trust in. The Bible says that we have become a new creation in Christ (2 Corinthians 5:17) and we have been born again (John 3:3). Because of our faith in Jesus, we have the power to overcome our pasts. Perhaps you’ve let something from your family or your past have more power over you than it should. Put your faith in Christ! He has made you a new creation—experience the peace and freedom he has for you today.
