Verse 52
The LORD spoke to Moses…
In our English bibles, the word “lord” is written in a few different ways. The two common uses are Lord and LORD. When we see LORD in all capital letters, it refers to the Hebrew name YAHWEH, which is God’s personal name. So this verse can also be translated “Yahweh spoke to Moses…”
This is not some far off, unknown, distant God—this is a personal God who has a name. This is a specific God, one that speaks to and leads his people…. One that saves his people…The same God that spoke to Moses also speaks to you. The one that saved Israel also saves you.
He is a personal God, one with a name. Yahweh— which means “self-existent one” — wants to speak to you. Do you know his voice yet? If not, the Bible helps us recognize his voice. His written word helps us discern his speaking voice. Today is a great day to begin discerning the voice of the LORD.
