Psalm 85

Daily Devotional from Psalm 85–

Verse 8
“Let me hear what God the Lord will speak, for he will speak peace to his people, to his saints; but let them not turn back to folly.”

When kids have no fear of danger, they can easily do things that seem reckless to those of us who know better. They feel safe; they can’t imagine getting hurt.

We can be that way sometimes too. When life seems like it’s going great, we feel like we can do anything! And maybe we indulge a little more in things that don’t honor God. Don’t be fooled, though - a little of this or a little of that might not seem like a problem, but don’t let a good feeling lead you into foolishness, lest a spiritual danger be around the corner that you just can’t see. A light habit can become an addiction that can wreck your relationship with friends, family, and the Lord.

Lord, thank You for Your wisdom. Please give me the discernment to recognize foolishness when I see it. Help me to guard my steps, my time, and my heart. Keep me away from destructive habits and unhelpful company. Fill me with Your wisdom instead, and help me to walk closely with people who honor You. In Jesus' name, Amen.
