1 Kings 16-17
Daily Devotional from 1 Kings 17—
Verse 13
And Elijah said to her, “Do not fear; go and do as you have said. But first make me a little cake of it and bring it to me, and afterward make something for yourself and your son.”
God often asks us to step out in faith BEFORE He provides a miracle. He asks us to pray for the sick BEFORE He heals them. He asks us to give 10% of our income back to him BEFORE he blesses and multiplies the other 90%.
In this example though, the widow was asked to give 100% of what she had to the man of God – all of it! But then she was encouraged to have faith, and to not fear, because it would be returned to her – and it miraculously was! Not only did her food replenish daily, but Elijah later brought her son back to life – what an added bonus!
Our God can do more than we can think or imagine. What might he be asking you to do, that might be scary, or that you don’t think you are able to? Be encouraged. Step out in faith, and know that your God will provide!
