Revelation 18
Daily Devotional from Revelation 18--
Verses 14-15
"The fruit for which your soul longed has gone from you, and all your delicacies and your splendors are lost to you, never to be found again!” The merchants of these wares, who gained wealth from her, will stand far off, in fear of her torment, weeping and mourning aloud...
One day in the future, Babylon (symbolic of an evil global religious, economic and political system) will be judged. Those who prioritize riches offered by the world will weep as they see their profits and prospects of future gain vanish with her destruction.
As Christians, we are called to be in the world but not part of the world. As our culture moves away from the standards the Bible lays out, Christians should expect to stand out as being “different”. Our true home is not of this world. Our hope for a future gain should not be based on treasures on earth, but treasures laid up in heaven, where moth and rust cannot destroy.
