Psalm 94

Daily Devotional from Psalm 94—

Verse 19
“When the cares of my heart are many, your consolations cheer my soul.”

A dictionary definition of consolations can be ‘comforts or expressions of sympathy which ease grief or disappointment and offer hope or peace’.

What are the cares of your heart today? Consider before the Lord what is weighing on you right now. Is it about your health, a troubled relationship, a personal failure, an unconfessed sin, or something else? Maybe multiple cares are heavy upon you, as was the case for the psalmist. When we come to the Lord with our cares, he will “cheer our souls”. He knows when this is happening to us before we even acknowledge it. He wants us to come to him. He is waiting and watching with open arms, like the prodigal son’s father.
Matthew 11:28-30 tells us when we are weary and burdened, in his gentleness he will give rest to our souls. The Holy Spirit will soothe our pain and alleviate our distress. Don’t deprive yourself of what the Lord offers you. Run to him. Let him catch you up in his warm embrace and give you strength, peace, and fresh hope!
