Psalm 61

Daily Devotional from Psalm 61–
Verses 2-3
“…from the end of the earth I call to you when my heart is faint. Lead me to the rock that is higher than I, for you have been my refuge, a strong tower against the enemy.”
When we become faint of heart and overwhelmed, we can cry out to God. He will lift us above the waves of problems threatening to drown us. Our past experience of God’s faithfulness helps us to rely on him in our present circumstances. As noted in v.2, he has been our refuge and strong tower. He is unchangeable. He is steadfast, even when we are not. He does hear our cries, even when we feel far away from him (at “the end of the earth”). We may feel we lack the ability to find him, maybe from exhaustion or distress, or being blinded by sin. His Holy Spirit power will lead us to that high rock of safety.
Cry out to the Lord, who is your high rock, your refuge, and your strong tower. Be fervent and persevering in your prayers! It doesn’t mean your problems will suddenly disappear (though some may), but it does mean they are in the hands of the One who can handle them and carry us through. (Genesis 50:20, Romans 8:28)
