Psalm 59

Daily Devotional from Psalm 59–

Verse 16
“But I will sing of your strength; I will sing aloud of your steadfast love in the morning. For you have been to me a fortress and a refuge in the day of my distress.”

This is a prayer/song for deliverance from and judgment on David’s enemies, who seem not to fear the consequences of their evil ways. But David leaves his security in God’s hands and praises Him for it. God does not always collect the debt that is owed him at the time of purchase, and people take advantage of this. They pretend He doesn’t exist or is busy elsewhere or doesn’t care. But those who do not repent and have not made Jesus their Lord will one day face judgment. The harmony that God intended from the beginning will be restored. 

Life is unfair; injustice is everywhere in our fallen world. But, just as David did, we can leave our anxieties and offenses against us in God’s hands, knowing that one day,
everything will be set straight.
