Psalm 52
Daily Devotional from Psalm 52–
Verse 9
“I will thank you forever, because you have done it. I will wait for your name, for it is good, in the presence of the godly.”
David wrote this after his hiding place was betrayed to Saul, who was trying to kill him. I don’t know about you, but I’ve never been in quite that bad of a spot! But check out the language David uses here: ‘I will thank you BECAUSE YOU HAVE DONE IT.’ Done what? He’s thanking God in advance, believing that God will rescue him from his enemies! What faith!
He also says, “I will wait for your name” - what does that mean? It means David trusts fully in God’s character - in who He is - and he is choosing to believe, again, that God WILL act. So David will wait!
Whatever tough spot you may be in today, trust that God is good. Remember that in all things God works for the good of those who love him (Romans 8:28). Wait on Him. Trust in Him. Rely on Him.
