Nehemiah 7
Daily Devotional from Nehemiah 7--
Verse 2
“I gave my brother Hanani and Hananiah the governor of the castle charge over Jerusalem, for he was a more faithful and God-fearing man than many.”
Nehemiah was intent on rebuilding the walls of Jerusalem. He accounted for everyone in the genealogies and noted the generous contributions of all who gave. The people rose up by their trades and positions and repaired parts of the wall. This is such a testimony to what one person with devotion and love for God can do with His empowerment. It also shows the importance of being ready to take up the work of the Lord when we receive the call. May we be faithful and God-fearing like Hanani and Hananiah and “take up our cross and follow Him” (Matthew 16:24-25).
