Verse 33
Blessed be your discretion, and blessed be you, who have kept me this day from bloodguilt and from working salvation with my own hand!
Have you ever had to talk someone back from a cliff? Or has someone ever had to talk you out of doing something out of anger or spite or revenge? That’s what Abigail did for David. She discerned the negative emotions her husband’s response had kindled in David and she came in the spirit of a peacemaker to defuse the situation, offer gifts of sustenance, and apologize for her husband. She did quite a bit of verbal buttering-up as well!
We are all called to be peacemakers on earth. Because we have the Prince of Peace living in our hearts, we can defuse tense situations, help people see big picture and act according to logic and grace, and spread love and forgiveness in our community – in person and online.
Do your social media posts spread peace or discord? When a friend is upset, do you feed into the drama or speak life from the scripture into the situation? Let’s all strive to be peacemakers.
