1 Samuel 20
Daily Devotional from 1 Samuel 20—
Verse 42
Jonathan said to David, “Go in peace. For we have promised each other in the name of the Lord, saying, ‘The Lord will be between me and you, and between my children and your children forever.’” Then David got up and left, and Jonathan went into the city. NLT
Jonathan has faced the reality that his father wants to kill his best friend. And yet at the risk of the wrath of his father King Saul, Jonathan has helped his best friend David escape King Saul. Helping David put Jonathan at risk. Stating that David would become King instead of Jonathan shows us how unselfish and loyal Jonathan really is.
God commands us to treat each other well and Jonathan is a perfect example of what that means. Let’s follow Jonathan and Jesus’ examples and find a friend to bless today.
