1 Samuel 19
Daily Devotional from 1 Samuel 19—
Verse 1
And Saul spoke to Jonathan his son and to all his servants, that they should kill David. But Jonathan, Saul’s son, delighted much in David.
Satan (through King Saul) had evil intentions for David. But God protected the future king, through whom would come the future Messiah.
Jonathan intercedes for David. Michal helped David escape out a window. Saul’s spear-throw somehow missed. Messengers sent to take David were incapacitated by a spirit of prophesy (3 times!) Saul himself was overcome with prophesy, laying down all day instead of killing David.
There was nothing Satan could do to derail God’s love and plan for the salvation of humanity.
And there is nothing Satan can do to separate US from God’s love and plan for good either. (Romans 8)
