1 Samuel 15

Daily Devotional from 1 Samuel 15—

Verse 22
And Samuel said, “Has the Lord as great delight in burnt offerings and sacrifices, as in obeying the voice of the Lord? Behold, to obey is better than sacrifice, and to listen than the fat of rams.”
‭‭
Saul thought sacrifices and blame-shifting would save him. But he missed the opportunity to repent and set things right. Because of his hardened and disobedient heart, God regretted making him king.

Sometimes we can get caught up in the performance of our faith. This can cause us to fall into traps like Saul did: worrying about how others view us, being impatient, not fully surrendering to God, taking matters into our own hands, and not taking full responsibility when we sin. Unfortunately, we all can relate to Saul. So let’s use this passage as a mirror today, perhaps there is an area we are struggling in like Saul did. Let’s choose humility and make it right with Jesus. All of us need His help.
