1 Samuel 15
Daily Devotional from 1 Samuel 15—
Verse 13
And Samuel said to Saul, “You have done foolishly. You have not kept the command of the Lord your God, with which he commanded you. For then the Lord would have established your kingdom over Israel forever.”
Have you ever been impatient with God? Saul was too hasty. He let fear dictate his decisions.
We’ve all done this. It’s easy to let our impatience or our fears cloud our judgment. It’s easy to think we are wise and reject what God has told us to do. When we let our fears or impatience rule over us, we do things with the wrong heart posture. God isn’t just concerned about what we do, but the heart in which we act. Saul disobeyed God because he was impatient and fearful. He wasn’t trusting in the Lord. This is why Samuel said the Lord was choosing a king who was a man after God’s own heart.
Today, reflect on the posture of your heart. Are you impatient or afraid? Are you choosing to trust in God, or in yourself?
