Ruth 1
Daily Devotional from Ruth 1--
Verse 16
But Ruth said, “Do not urge me to leave you or to return from following you. For where you go I will go, and where you lodge I will lodge. Your people shall be my people, and your God my God.”
Not all of us were born into families that follow the Lord. That can be tough. It’s hard when you can’t relate with your birth family in your love for God. But Psalm 68:6 says, "God sets the lonely in families." Sometimes that’s a church family. People you can walk with as you grow in Jesus, people who can mentor you in your faith. “The family of God” consists of grandparents, parents, brothers, sisters, and kids you GET to choose!
I’ve never met my biological father. But I’ve found great father figures in guys like Rick, Butch, and Aaron. Ruth did the same. She found a family she loved and wanted to belong to, and she was willing to leave everything to be with them and follow their faith. Jesus is looking for those who are willing to leave anything behind to follow HIM. Will you? Will you encourage others to follow you as you follow Him?
