Judges 17
Daily Devotional from Judges 17—
Verse 13
Then Micah said, "Now I know that the Lord will prosper me, because I have a Levite as priest."
Micah, a man who stole from his mother, a man who worshiped idols, a man who ordained his own son as a priest, and finally a man who found a Levite who would live in his house and become his priest says “I know that the Lord will prosper me.”
Why? Micah was directly disobedient to God and yet believed that the Lord would prosper him because he had a Levite as a priest. Before we decide we “know” what God will do, it might be better if we compare our thoughts to exactly what God says
in His Word.
Jesus said, “It is written, man shall not live by bread alone, but by every word that comes from the mouth of God.” So before we act on “I know”, let’s make sure it is exactly the same as what the Bible, God’s written word, tells us to do.
