Judges 15

Daily Devotional from Judges 15—

Verses 18-19
And he was very thirsty, and he called upon the Lord and
said, “You have granted this great salvation by the hand of
your servant, and shall I now die of thirst and fall into the
hands of the uncircumcised?” And God split open the hollow
place that is at Lehi, and water came out from it. And when
he drank, his spirit returned, and he revived.

Samson knew God was using him to bring judgment on the
Philistines who were oppressing Israel. After Samson
miraculously won a great battle, he became thirsty.

It is interesting how Samson sarcastically complained to
God, and yet God provided for his needs — water and
revived strength. I believe this passage shows us at least two truths — exhale and inhale.

The first is that God is not put off by honest, raw emotions in
our prayers. Venting (exhaling) our negative emotions to
Him in prayer is a safe way to maintain our mental health,
and prevents blowout on others. A second is that God provides needed change to our heart, and needed resources to do his work. So, inhale God’s goodness and supply. He is the vine and
we are the branches.
