Daily Devotional from Joshua 15–
Verses 16
And Caleb said, "Whoever strikes Kiriath-sepher and captures it, to him will I give Achsah my daughter as wife."
Here we see Othniel, the nephew of Caleb going after a prize....a wife. All he had to do to win the prize was to show himself a capable military leader and capture a city. God had allotted the land to the tribe of Judah, but they had to conquer it.
In the same way, God tells us to conquer our enemies. We have spiritual victories to win. As Paul wrote in Ephesians 6:12 “For we do not wrestle against flesh and blood, but against the rulers, against the authorities, against the cosmic powers over this present darkness, against the spiritual forces of evil in the heavenly places.”
Just like Othniel had a prize to earn, we have one too, eternal life with Jesus Christ. He is worth the battle, and like Othniel, we will win because with Jesus, we are on the winning team.
