Deuteronomy 34
Daily Devotional for Deuteronomy 34–
Verse 8
And the people of Israel wept for Moses in the plains of Moab thirty days. Then the days of weeping and mourning for Moses were ended.
Moses was 120 years old when he died. Then his followers mourned and wept for him for 30 days. There is a time to mourn the loss of a loved one, and grief is a valid emotion. But isn’t it wonderful to know for Christians, to be absent from the body is to be present with the Lord ( 2
Cor. 5:8)? Our grief is tempered by the knowledge that our loved one is in heaven and in the presence of the Lord - where there is no more mourning, crying, or pain (Rev. 21:4).
