Daily Devotional from Numbers 8--
Verse 14
Thus you shall separate the Levites from among the people of Israel, and the Levites shall be mine.
God set aside the tribe of Levi to be the servants of the Tabernacle. When they entered the Promised Land, only the tribe of Levi did NOT receive any land as an inheritance – they just got cities within the other tribes’ lands. Because God was supposed to be their inheritance, and they were to spend their lives focusing on caring for the Tabernacle rather than their own land.
Did you know that YOU are a Levite? Maybe not by blood, but today, all believers are called to be spiritual Levites. We are all called to serve God and assist others. That might not be full-time ministry, but brewing coffee, fixing a toilet, decorating for events, greeting guests, holding babies in the nursery – these are all ways to serve God and his church.
