Song of Solomon 1-4
Daily Devotional from Song of Solomon 2--
Verse 2
As a lily among brambles, so is my love among the young women.
Song of Solomon paints a beautiful picture of the love between Solomon and his bride. In verse two, Solomon is proclaiming that among all women, he only has eyes for his wife.
Marriage is a beautiful gift. I love my husband more each day. That doesn’t mean marriage isn’t difficult—sacrifices, compromises, and big decisions must be made. But daily choosing each other makes the marriage covenant special. The commitment we share deepens and shapes our relationship.
Marriage is also a symbol of Christ and His Church (Ephesians 5). If you’re married, your marriage can be a picture of the love of Jesus—if you approach it with humility and a servant’s heart. Ask yourself today, “How am I showing the love Jesus has shown me to my spouse?” and, “How can my spouse and I share Jesus’s love with the people we encounter today?”
If you’re not married, observe godly marriages. What about them symbolizes Christ and the Church to you? What can you learn about loving your neighbor through those observations?
