Verse 24
Gracious words are like a honeycomb, sweetness to the soul and health to the body.
You’ve heard of the Five Love Languages, right? Different people feel love in different ways – through Acts of Service, Gifts, etc. One of those languages is Words of Affirmation. I must say, of all 5 love languages, this is probably at the bottom of my list personally. Words are just words in my mind. But not so!
The writer of this proverb declares that they can be so much more. We all like to feel appreciated when we serve others. We all like to know what others see as our strengths and giftings. We want to know we are forgiven, cared for, understood. Gracious words are like sweet honeycomb, that sticks with the hearer long after it’s initially enjoyed!
Let the Holy Spirit lead you this week in what words you can share with people – whether spoken or written – that will bring sweetness to their soul!
