Luke 24

Daily Devotional from Luke 24—

Verses 46-49
He also said to them, “This is what is written: The Messiah will suffer and rise from the dead the third day, and repentance for forgiveness of sins will be proclaimed in his name to all the nations, beginning at Jerusalem. You are witnesses of these things. And look, I am sending you what my Father promised. As for you, stay in the city until you are empowered from on high.”

Jesus did what He said He would do: He was murdered and rose from the dead on the third day. In doing this He paid the penalty for our sins. Romans 3:23 says, “The wages of sin is death but the free gift of God is eternal life in Christ Jesus our Lord.” It’s a free gift!

This is not just for us though, we are to share this good news with everybody. This seems like a daunting task, but Jesus tells His disciples to wait until they receive empowerment from on high, the Holy Spirit. The Holy Spirit makes spreading the good news possible. We absolutely need Him in order to get the Word out, to be witnesses of Jesus! I encourage you to take steps of faith. Invite someone to church or tell someone about your faith. Ask for the Holy Spirit’s empowerment because God gives to us who ask.
