Jeremiah 15-16

Verse 16
Your words were found, and I ate them, and you words became to me a joy and the delight of my heart.
 
It’s interesting that Jeremiah should liken reading the Bible to eating your food. If you think about it, there’s nothing more intimate than eating a meal. You are taking food and making it a part of who you are. You are chewing it, ingesting it, and assimilating all its nutrients, which, in turn, travels into your bloodstream and supports cellular growth. Your food has become a part of you. But that’s not all. God has also given our food flavor. A nicely cooked meal brings joy and delight. God’s Word is really no different.
 
So, the next time you read your Bible, make sure to chew it slowly. It will bring both joy to the moment and strength for the journey.
