1 Corinthians 6:12
All things are lawful for me, but not all things are helpful.
Athletes are vigilant when it comes to their diet. They could drink that soda; it’s just not going to help them very much. Same concept goes for the Christian. We are being trained and groomed for glory. Therefore, we might not consume everything that comes our way.
God doesn’t forbid me to watch that movie. He doesn’t ban me from reading that book. I’m not restricted from going to that party. I just know it’s not going support my training. Therefore, I may opt out from time to time. Just because a door opens does not mean I need to walk through it. Knowing my purpose will go a long way in determining my choices. Just because I can doesn’t always mean that I should. I’m in training after all.
