Psalm 46

Daily Devotional from Psalm 46–

Verse 10
“Be still, and know that I am God; I will be exalted among the nations, I will be exalted in the earth!”

Sometimes being still can sound counterintuitive in a culture where striving is normal. It’s necessary that we let God be God over our lives and not try to muscle our way into that position. One of the greatest things we can rest in is knowing that God is going to handle it, and by “it,” I mean everything! Jesus gave us a great example of this. In the midst of His busyness and ministry, He constantly withdrew to quiet places to sit and pray with God.

Being still isn’t just recommended; it’s necessary for how our nervous systems are wired. Practice sitting with God in silence. Surrender your worries to Him and be still.

Because when we stop striving, we experience the peace that comes from knowing God is in control.
