Verses 35-36
And Jonadab said to the king, “Behold, the king's sons have come; as your servant said, so it has come about.” And as soon as he had finished speaking, behold, the king's sons came and lifted up their voice and wept. And the king also and all his servants wept very bitterly.

This chapter really shows us what happens without repentance and forgiveness. We live in a broken world where sadly events like this are not uncommon. When resentment grows and there is no forgiveness to be found, the presence of evil grows and people commit heinous acts that continue to pile up and multiply.

This is a tough chapter and one could certainly understand Absalom’s anger. David knew of the assault of Tamar and did nothing, demonstrating poor leadership. David should have stepped in, confronted the sin, and mediated. It was his responsibility. We have a responsibility too. We are to lead in forgiveness and teach others to do the same because we have been forgiven of more than we could even ask. Be the light today my friend, forgive, lead and love.
