Verse 14
And the Lord gave victory to David wherever he went.
David’s life is an interesting one. He experiences stellar highs and devastating lows. And it doesn’t get much better than what we find in our reading today. David’s on top of the world. But as you will soon discover in chapter 11, he hits rock bottom.
The one thing we should all appreciate about David, however, was his deep consistency. He was rooted in success and fruitful in failure. And the source of his consistency seemed to be his love relationship with the Lord. Divine love is the great ballast of the soul. It doesn’t allow you to get too high, and it doesn’t let you dip too low. No matter how good it gets, or how bad it becomes, there’s always something bigger going on when you participate in God’s love.
No matter what your situation may look like today (good or bad), may the love of God be your bigger perspective.
