Job 27

Daily Devotional from Job 27--

Verse 3-5
“As long as my breath is in me, and the spirit of God is in my nostrils,  my lips will not speak falsehood, and my tongue will not utter deceit. Far be it from me to say that you are right; till I die I will not put away my integrity from me.”

I love Job. He has had such a hard lot, yet he refuses to curse God and lie to his friends, saying that all the things happening to him were a product of his own sin. He endured suffering and never used it as an excuse to have poor character. Job chose integrity.

We, too, must decide that we won’t allow life to force us to have bad character. We have to be able to trust God when temptation comes that He will provide and defend us from evil. Job knew God was the defender of his righteousness, and however convincing his friends may be, they weren’t telling the truth.

There may be some areas you have trouble with, and there may be an easy way out, but it’s not always the right thing to do. Do the right thing; leave the outcome in God’s camp. We have just been tasked to trust.
