Job 26
Daily Devotional from Job 26--
Verse 13
“By his breath the heavens gained their beauty; his hand pierced the fleeing serpent.”
This verse reminds me of Genesis 1-3. God spoke creation into existence. He formed humans out of the dust and breathed life into us. The serpent deceived us and was cursed, with God promising that one day the serpent would be killed by the seed of the woman. It seems as if Job had some understanding of the creation story and the promise of the Messiah who would crush this serpent.
John 1 says that Jesus is the Word and that nothing was made without him. It was by his breath that the heavens gained their beauty. AND Jesus defeated this serpent through his death and resurrection. He was the promised hand that pierced the fleeing serpent.
Put your trust in him.
