2 Samuel 7
Daily Devotional from 2 Samuel 7—
Verse 25
And now, O Lord God, …do as you have spoken.
David had the idea of building a house for the Lord and told the prophet Nathan about it as his spiritual confidant. At first Nathan told him to do it for the Lord was with him. The Lord spoke to Nathan, telling him to speak His blessings on David, his house and his offspring (who would build His house). David sat before the Lord in humility and praise of what God had done for him and for the promises He gave.
As David, we can share our ideas for service with our spiritual leader(s). As Nathan, our Pastor and church leaders can help set us on the right path. (Prov 15:22, 24:6 & 11:14). Next, we can sit and meditate before the Lord regarding His promises. In order to rightly receive and act on the Lord’s promises we need to know what they are. Let’s open the Bible to find them and ask God to “do as You have spoken.” There are promises for any situation. God welcomes our dependence on His promises. He hears and answers our prayers.
Thanks be to God, who causes us to triumph. (1 Cor 15:57, 2 Cor 2:14, 1 John 4:4)
