1 Samuel 22
Daily Devotional from 1 Samuel 22–
Verse 22
I have occasioned the death of all the persons of your father's house.
We all know that we can suffer persecution for our faith. But what are you going to do when others have to pay the price for your faith? Are you going to apologize? Are you going to recant? Are you going to crumble? David didn’t. He seemed to know there was going to be a price associated with following the Lord. But there will also be a benefit of solidarity. In verse 23, David tells his persecuted friends to “stay with me; and do not be afraid.” That’s an interesting sign of leadership– being able to tolerate the price others will have to pay for your faithfulness to God. That’s a sobering prospect. But they will have a reward as well. Keep the faith. And, by all means be sensitive, be even bothered, but don’t be crushed by the price others will need to pay for your obedience to God.
