Joshua 22
Daily Devotional from Joshua 22--
Verse 19
But now, if the land of your possession is unclean, pass over into the Lord's land where the Lord's tabernacle stands, and take for yourselves a possession among us. Only do not rebel against the Lord or make us as rebels by building for yourselves an altar other than the altar of the Lord our God.
The emphasis on community here is important. As we follow the Lord together, it’s important that we are on the same page. That’s why we do this devo so we are all together being encouraged by the word of God. It is a communal worship, not something we do alone. Achan’s sin affected more than just him. When we choose to live loosely toward the Lord, it affects our community. We have all been given influence in a circle of people to be a blessing. But when we cease being a blessing, we become more harmful than we are good without even intending to be.
With that said, let’s keep consistent and as it said earlier in this chapter we all need to: “love the Lord your God, and to walk in all his ways and to keep his commandments and to cling to him and to serve him with all your heart and with all your soul.” Let’s keep our congregation healthy together by keeping our hearts and lives in the right posture with Jesus.
