Joshua 18
Daily Devotional from Joshua 18–
Verse 3
How long will you put off going in to take possession of the land, which the Lord, the God of your fathers, has given you?
They say, “Half the job is just starting.” Yet beginning a big task can tend to psych a person out.
When I was in seminary, I had to write a 200-page dissertation. I looked forward to it, but I felt a little intimidated too. Had I read enough? Had I talked to the right scholars? How exactly would I conduct my research? The questions lingered, and I dithered for over a year.
The children of Israel did the same. They probably had many questions. But there comes a time to set all those aside and just dive in head-first.
Once I did that, the project came along much easier than expected. I finished and wondered why it took me so long to begin. If God has put something on your heart, do your homework, but don’t procrastinate. Start the project, and before you know it, the grace of God will carry you through.
