Joshua 13

Daily Devotional from Joshua 13–


Verse 7
I myself will drive them out from before the people of Israel. Only allot the land to Israel for an inheritance, as I have commanded you. Now therefore divide this land for an inheritance to the nine tribes and half the tribe of Manasseh.

Joshua was old and advanced in years, meaning he was really old! Yet much of the land that God had promised to Israel had yet to be possessed.  So God reminded Joshua that it was He who would (in the future) drive out the current inhabitants, and Joshua’s job (now) was to allot (provide titles to) portions of land the various tribes would ultimately possess. In other words Joshua was to obey God and act like His promises were fulfilled even before they  actually were.

Likewise, I believe God calls us to act with faith, and claim His wonderful promises now — such as protection, or healing, or comfort.  Explore His many promises in the Bible. Which promises will you claim?
