Joshua 12
Daily Devotional from Joshua 12–
Verse 24
…the king of Tirzah, one: in all, thirty-one kings.
Wow, what a list of success! There are more defeated kings listed here than Doritos in a chip bag! Besides all the kings that Moses and Joshua defeated, the thing that stands out to me is the title that Moses gets in this chapter. “Moses, the servant of the Lord.” What a beautiful, humbling title to hold.
It’s easy to try to reach for a title or a certain standing to gain the approval of others. However, that’s not how God intended for us to be recognized. In his masterful design, each and every one of us is to be identified as his sons and daughters. Nothing more, nothing less. This chapter challenges me to inspect the titles I hold onto. If all that was ever said about me was that I am a servant of God, would I be satisfied in my heart of hearts, or would I seek more? Where is my focus? May we always find our satisfaction and identity in the Lord.
