Exodus 31
Daily Devotional from Exodus 31—
Verses 2-3
See, I have called by name Bezalel…and I have filled him with the Spirit of God, with ability and intelligence, with knowledge and all craftsmanship…
I get excited when I think about God designing us so intentionally and specifically! I notice an order of events in this passage: first, God called Bezalel by name. Then, he filled him with the Spirit of God. Finally, he instilled in him vocational skills and abilities. In short: know God, be filled with his Spirit, and God will handle everything else. It reminds me of Matthew 6:33, which says, “But seek first the kingdom of God and his righteousness, and all these things will be added to you.”
Are you in hot pursuit of a relationship with God? Are you living with an awareness of the Holy Spirit? Or, are you more worried about the abilities you have and the things you can produce? If you are anything like me, those kinds of questions will hit something in your heart. If you need to, get on your knees right where you are and lay everything down at the feet of Jesus. He is trustworthy, and worthy of our highest praise!
