1 Corinthians 14

Verse 12
So also you—since you are zealous for spiritual gifts, seek to excel in building up the church.
The entirety of this chapter is summed up in this verse. Paul wants the Corinthian church to utilize the gifts of the Spirit—especially tongues and prophecy. BUT, they must be used to build up and edify the church, not an individual believer’s status.
Seek spiritual gifts. Long for them. Pray for them—not for your own sake or worthiness, but for the sake of the church community. Long for and work toward the peace of the church community, because through it, the world will see the power of the Spirit at work.
