Romans 13
Daily Devotional from Romans 13 –
Verses 11-14
Besides this you know the time, that the hour has come for you to wake from sleep. For salvation is nearer to us now than when we first believed. The night is far gone; the day is at hand. So then let us cast off the works of darkness and put on the armor of light. Let us walk properly as in the daytime, not in orgies and drunkenness, not in sexual immorality and sensuality, not in quarreling and jealousy. But put on the Lord Jesus Christ, and make no provision for the flesh, to gratify its desires.
The Apostle Paul, by the Holy Spirit, calls on the Romans, and now us, to wake from sleep for time is short before the Lord’s return. We are to “cast off the works of darkness,” rejecting wrongdoing and making no provision for the flesh. We are to put on the armor of light, to put on the Lord Jesus Christ himself.
Lord Jesus, help us to put on the armor of light you have provided for us. May we choose to walk properly, in honesty and humility before you, as in the daylight. Let us not turn to acts of darkness, but live in your presence, for your glory and for the furtherance of the gospel. Amen.
