1 Timothy 2
Daily Devotional from 1 Timothy 2--
Verses 1-2
First of all, then, I urge that petitions, prayers, intercessions, and thanksgivings be made for everyone, for kings and all those who are in authority, so that we may lead a tranquil and quiet life in all godliness and dignity.
The heart of God for us is to love people well. The best way to love others well is to pray for them. It is very difficult to hold any sort of animosity for someone while you are praying for their well-being and salvation.
We are also to be praying for those in authority and in high positions. We are not to disparage them or pray curses on them. Whether we agree with them or not, they are still people in need of Jesus.
Take a moment today to pray earnestly for our Mayor, our Governor, our Senators, Representatives, our President, and our Supreme Court Justices. They need the Holy Spirit’s guidance and protection.
