Acts 12
Daily Devotional from Acts 12--
Verses 15-16
They said to her, “You are out of your mind.” But she kept insisting that it was so, and they kept saying, “It is his angel!” But Peter continued knocking, and when they opened, they saw him and were amazed.
Many were gathered together at the house of Mark (the gospel writer), praying for Peter. He was imprisoned according to Herod’s orders, probably to suffer the same fate as James.
The really funny thing is that God answered their prayers for Peter, but they couldn’t believe it.
According to Acts, Peter miraculously escaped prison and knocked on Mark’s locked front door to be let in. Rhoda answered and ran to to inform the others of Peter’s presence. They didn’t believe her. (Curiously, she kept Peter locked outside in the process. She must have been so excited.)
There is a lesson for us here. When we ask God for something in prayer, let’s not be so surprised when He answers. And be expecting an answer in the affirmative. He is the source of all good things!
