Verses 34-35

A new commandment I give to you, that you love one another: just as I have loved you, you also are to love one another. By this all people will know that you are my disciples, if you have love for one another.

“Jesus loves me, this I know, for the Bible tells me so.”

The words of a children’s song summarize the truth of God’s love for us, and the verse tells us of our responsibility to others.

Like saving faith that is accompanied by good deeds, our loving of God is accompanied by the evidence of our loving one another.

This love for others can be shown in many ways — an encouraging word, a prayer for a need, a sacrifice of time or money, to name a few. 

Let’s not be out-loved by the unbeliever. Think of some way that you can share an act of love today!
